Casing Services

Casing inspection, casing buyback, and retreading of your own casings at our Azusa plant.

Three ways we work with casings

A sound casing is the starting point for every retread. Whether you want your own casings back as retreads or want to sell casings you won’t use, we can help.

Casing inspection

We inspect every casing before it’s retreaded, so you know which of your casings are sound enough for another life.

Casing buyback

Have casings you won’t retread? We buy casings back. The price depends on the casing’s condition, how many times it’s been retreaded, and its brand.

Retread your own casings

Bring your casings to our plant or schedule a pickup anywhere in Southern California. We retread them with our own proprietary rubber and deliver them back.

What makes a casing retreadable

In general, a casing is a good candidate for retreading when:

  • The tread is worn evenly and hasn’t worn down to the steel belts.
  • No cuts, bulges, or separations in the sidewall or crown.
  • The bead area is undamaged.
  • Any earlier repairs are within standard repair limits.
  • The tire hasn’t been run flat or seriously underinflated.

The final call is made at inspection. We reject any casing that couldn’t be retreaded successfully or could cause problems during the tire’s life.

Pulling tires before the tread wears too low gives a casing the best chance of passing.

Buying new tires?

Select Pirelli-brand casings carry Prometeon’s Enhanced Casing Limited Warranty, so a new tire today can come back to us as a retread later.
